New Delhi: Striking an emotional chord yet again, the tenth episode of Aamir Khan’s highly popular show Satyamev Jayate, discussed about the Caste System in India.
The show opened with Dr Kaushal Panwar, who is a Sanskrit professor in Delhi University. Life wasn’t a cake walk for Dr Kaushal since she was born in a scheduled caste family. She narrated her story on the show with teary eyes.
Though the topic discussed was not new, but it certainly brought forward some really shocking facts, that made everyone’s jaw drop.
Dr Kaushal said: “I faced numerous challenges in my life. By the order of the school administration, I was instructed to wear a uniform, which was different from other students in the school. They did this in order to differentiate the students according to their castes.”
“My father always boosted my morale and encouraged me to study further and asked me to ignore whatever people say or comment. The man behind my success is my father, but unfortunately he is no more to see me where I am now, just because of him,” she went on to add with eyes full of tears.
The next guest on the show was filmmaker Stalin K, who showed few clips of ‘India Untouched’, a short film on casteism.
Through the clippings, Stalin proved that this indifference does not only hit the Hindu section but is also prevalent among the Christians, Sikhs and Muslims.
The next on the show was former Justice and freedom fighter Dharmadhikari, who highly condemned the caste system, referring to one incident, wherein a Dalit man saved his nephew’s life by donating his blood. He said when blood doesn’t know about caste and creed, why a human being could even think about it?
At the end, the youth shared their views, strongly condemned casteism and vowed to bring a change by doing their bit. The show then concluded with another touching song by Ram Sampath.
