After more than a three-year run on the telly, popular soap 'Na Aana Is Des Laado' starring Meghna
Malik is coming to an end. The landmark Colors show, which launched in March 2009, was based on the concept of female infanticide and oppression in rural India.
Role of the authoritative Ammaji, played by Meghna Malik, had become quite popular with her unique style of acting and typical dialogue delivery.
Viewers lived through Ammaji's journey from being a stern sarpanch in approval of female infanticide to eventually her fight for her own granddaughters' survival. The show is coming to a close after a run of 850 episodes.
"We do not believe in stretching a story unnecessarily, rather end at an appropriate note. We believe that it is time to wrap up the show. Drawing curtains on this fiction show makes us proud about having created such a bold series and we promise to continue to innovate and experiment in our future programming as well," said Prashaant Bhatt, Weekday Programming Head, COLORS.
